7 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Forest.
Our driver will pick you up from the airport and take you for meals according to the time of your arrival to one of the hotels in Kampala. You will then leave for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park which is known as a great home for gorillas. A brief stop at the Equator allows time for photographs and refreshments as well a visit to the craft shops.
The journey affords views from the vehicle of the long horned Ankole cattle, in Mbarara, the rolling hills, terraced landscapes and the beautiful panorama of Kabale. We have a lunch break en route in Mbarara. Then Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable park and arrive in the evening.
Lodging: Buhoma Community Rest Camp, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp, Silver back lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking:
Wake up early have your breakfast and the driver will pick you up for a thrilling experience of gorilla tracking and trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest. You will be taken to the headquarters where will you be briefed and given instructions on how it’s done. Time taken to track the mountain gorilla is a minimum of 2 hrs. and a maximum of 7hrs. On finding them, you will be given the most exciting and emotional moment with them. For conservation purposes in most cases you will be given 1 hr. to enjoy them. You will then go back for your lunch and after go for village walks along the ridge top roads which provides a fantastic view north and virunga volcanoes in the south. You will also be exploring the cultural and life style of the local bakiga and batwa tribes.
Day 3: Transfer from Bwindi Forest National Park to Queen Elizabeth.
Following your early morning breakfast, you will drive through the country side passing through traditional homesteads and farms. You will have lunch at any town of your choice along and then continue to Queen Elizabeth National through the southern part of the park (Ishasha sector) as you look out for the tree climbing lions resting in the fig trees. You may as well be rewarded by the sight of cobs, water bucks and other antelopes grazing in the Ishasha plains. Continue to the upper park as an evening game drive. Check in a hotel of your convenience. Preferably, Mweya Safari lodge with excellent services.
Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Wake up early for breakfast and then go for an early morning game drive encounter different mammals like: herds of elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, lion, leopard, hyenas etc. Sight different species of birds. Over 500 species have been identified here making it a paradise for bird –watchers some of these birds include Black-bee eater, 11 different species of Kingfisher, several falcons, eagles and raptors. Get back to your hotel for lunch and relax as you wait for the afternoon activity.
In the afternoon you will have a launch trip on the Kazinga Channel where you will sight a variety of bank residents. This waterway joins Lake Edward and Lake George and encounters a school of hippos, buffaloes, crocodiles, waterbucks and a variety of water birds. Catch a glimpse of water birds diving for fish, the Marabou stork, bee-eater and cheeky bronze-tailed starling not to forget the majestic crowned crane. Check in to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight.
Day 5: Queen to Murchison falls National Park.
Have your breakfast at your leisure. Get set to travel to Murchison falls National Park. The journey will be quite long but you will be free to stop the driver at any point of your choice for snap shots and clear nature views. Lunch will be taken in Hoima town before descending steep escarpments onto the Albertine rift valley bed. You will then steadily make your way through big herds of long horned cows and beautifully decorated African homesteads. Check in your hotel for dinner and an overnight.
Day 6: Morning game drive, Nile launch cruise
You will have your breakfast and then leave for a morning game drive. You will travel with a ranger guide who will give more interpretations of wildlife scenarios, help in tracking of wildlife basing on previous sightings and their possible food hunt places. This is one of the most exciting and rewarding activity on an African wildlife viewing safari and many visitors can never have enough of it. The driver will take you back to your hotel for lunch, relax a little bit and get ready for an afternoon launch trip downstream to the Nile Lake Albert Delta which offers the classic view of an equatorial sunset reflected on the river. Check in your hotel for dinner and an overnight.
Day 7: Journey to Kampala
Leave for Kampala after your early morning breakfast. You will have a stopover to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary at Nakasongola district for roughly 2hrs. There after you have enjoyed the rhinos you will have your lunch at New Court View Hotel and later proceed to Kampala. The driver will drop you off at the airport.
